so much is new

March 30th, 2012 | Posted by EBeditor in Bedhead | Kerastase | Kevin Murphy | KMS California - (Comments Off)

So I took a rather long break from blogging…I can’t say I am proud of it.  I do find it challenging to blog regularly…I guess I am just a few years older than the twitter generation so I find it hard to speak when I am not 100% sure someone is reading it.  But then again, everyone else is doing it…so I will too!  So let me tell you of the millions of things that have happened since I last blogged.

First, we GREW!  A huge site redesign happened last year and brought us a wealth of new customers and new products!  We’ve added (to name a few):

Kevin Murphy

Unite

KMS California

Bedhead

Revlon Style masters

Paul Mitchell

Paul Mitchell Tea Tree

and that doesn’t include all of the redesign of product lines we’ve done!!

We’ve been dealt some blows too.  Kerastase Canada has decided to keep their lines ultra exclusive.  This means that our clients can only purchase these products via toll free call or via email.  Our clients have stuck with us though and we’ve found our way through a more difficult scenario than your standard shopping cart solution.

We’ve participated in a total of 7 versions of Fashion Week, 6 of them here in Ottawa with our wonderful salon The Loft as exclusive Hair sponsor for Ottawa Fashion Week.  We will continue to do this every season moving forward!

We’ve grown our staff, we’ve invested in the beginnings of a fleet of promotional vehicles…all of this to keep you knowing WHERE to buy your hair care!

We are also in the midst of branching out a new site for just Dermalogica.  We can’t wait to unveil our new baby to you!

So I hope you’re with us for the ride!

I hope to begin also video blogging so that you can learn hair tricks and see some amazing things you can do with your products!

Here we go….

ST Tropez Self Tan

February 25th, 2011 | Posted by EBeditor in ST Tropez Self Tan - (Comments Off)

I am so excited about one of our newer products, ST Tropez! It is a great self tanning line and I LOVE it! I am a pretty pale gal, and I am not a tanner myself. So, when we got this line in, I knew I had to try it. I have started with ST Tropez Self Tan Bronzing Spray.  It provides immediate results so I just spray it on and go!  I am so bronze and everybody is noticing!

Some notes…

I like to spray this on in the evening so that it can sit for 4 hours.  It has a strong (albeit nice) smell, but I don’t think I would want to smell it all day long.  It’s a bit too perfume-y for me in general, so I like to rinse it off after 4 hours.  I am left with a beautiful bronze tan.  This is a first in my LIFE…I don’t think I’ve ever had a tan that wasn’t a burn!  I feel gorgeous!

DEFINITELY try this stuff and check out the whole line here!

Are you among the many who are eager to try all of the natural & sulfate free haircare lines out there?  Currently, on Exclusive Beauty Boutique, we have a few ; Moroccan Oil, PureOlogy, Simply Organics & some AG products .  Upon first attempt, you might find your hair to be a bit oily after you’ve washed with one of the shampoos from this line.  The difference can feel significant if you are coming from having used more traditional salon brands. I personally found my hair to feel quite a lot of build up & my scalp was itchy after using them.

When I researched the matter, I learned that  you should be shampoo-ing twice.  This may sound wasteful, but it does make a difference, and a little goes a long way.  First use a small amount of shampoo on your scalp, and massage it in well.  After that, wash the remainder of your hair with a slightly larger amount of shampoo. This will strip away all of the residue that is left in your hair from previous days styling.  Don’t worry about the lower amount of lather, that’s just the lack of sulfates in the shampoo.

Once you have completed this, then you can use your masque or conditioner on the ends only.  As is the case with any conditioner, you only really need it to make your hair softer & more comb-able.

The jury is still out for me as to whether I find these kinds of shampoo to be worth the switch, but I am trying everything!

Please post your reviews, tips & experiences using these types of all natural solutions!

Sincerely,

EBEditor

As I sit here, I am excited to write this review. I am excited because this product took me by surprise.  As an (ahem) thirty -something year old woman, I feel that I should be exempt from needing to “zap” blemishes, and yet, I found myself recently running into the salon to pick up something to deal with the “situation” I had on my chin!  I wanted a simple concealer, but boy did I get more!  I bought Jane Iredale Mineral Make-up Zap & Hide Concealer.  It’s about the size of a large lipstick, and it has 2 sides.  One is a clear side which contains antiseptic and healing botanicals, and the other side is a powerful concealer.  I just put the clear end onto the blemish itself, and then proceeded to conceal as usual in the affected area.  The next day, I kid you not, the blemish lost it’s bite (so to speak).  It wasn’t 100% gone, but it was no longer flared up, and it was on it’s way to disappearing!  I love this stuff!  It is a must try item, and its shelf life will run out before you actually run out of product, I’m sure of it! Jane Iredale Mineral Make-Up has been such a great addition to our store, and every time I try a new product, I just can’t wait to describe it to anyone who will listen!

Zap & Hide Concealer comes in 3 shades; Light, Medium & Dark
